365...

DAYS LEFT.

Well..now it's less than -- but on the day when it was the one year mark felt crazy, scary, amazing. I told Danny, "Happy Future Anniversary!" (which felt great by the way!) He had totally not even realized, but I didn't mind, it's the fact that in one year we will be married, and I am so excited.

Now that it is officially less than one year away...I feel completely behind on the wedding planning. It has been put on a mini-hold just because I am now employed, woohoo! So much as happened since my last post; an engagement party, another DIY project, and of course more dress shopping.

Posting on these soon!

I Spy With My Little Eye....

just WHITE DRESSES!

It has come to the point where I do not even see wedding dresses anymore, just white dresses. I have tried on so many dresses, all pretty, but none with that "this is the one" feeling. So, needless to say, finding the wedding dress has not been as a fairy-tale experience as hoped; you know, finding "the" dress, and just knowing that it was the one.  Maybe I have just not found it yet, or...maybe I have.

Today, I did fall in love with a Priscilla of Boston style #4315.  I just loved it. It was the second dress I had tried on the store, and I did not want to take it off.  It was everything I was looking for and more. It met all of my criteria I was looking for:
  • sweet heart neckline
  • a-line
  • silk/satin fabric
  • minimal beading
  • natural waistline
except for one:
  • price
Yes, price is a MAJOR factor in my decision-making process, and it has therefore, made me realize that I must pass up on this dress. I now must continue the white dress hunt, in hopes that I may find "the" dress out of the slew of white dresses.

Ready, Set..DIY!

After scouring DIY websites for inspiration, I decided that my first DIY wedding craft would be (drumroll please!) for my bridesmaids and maid of honor. Even though I had asked them each individually if they would be in my wedding party, I wanted to give them special for them to keep, if they'd like :).  So the first DIY project were cards asking, "Will You Be My Bridesmaid/MOH?" I wanted my first DIY project to be something simple, so I can not only build my DIY confidence, but also work on my DIY skills so that I'll be able to do my own save-the-dates, invitations, ceremony programs, escort cards, and menus. Phew sounds like a lot now, that's why I'm just pumping myself up with these simple "Will You Be My ____?" cards.  Below is a list of materials I used to create these cards: (All materials were purchased from Michael's.)
  • Dress stamp
  • Calligraphy pen
  • Ink
  • Rhinestone gems
  • Glue
  • Plan white cards and envelopes
So without further ado, let me introduce you to my first DIY project!

Since I would not consider myself a calligrapher, by all means, I took the advice from a fellow bride-to-be blogger and cheated. So my first step as an amateur calligrapher included printing the pretty calligraphy font (in a light shade) on the card so that I was able to write over it in ink. I wanted to create a formal, yet simple card, so I chose black ink on my white cards. I downloaded this calligraphy font from a great website, one I highly recommend if you're considering skimping out on a calligrapher, dafont.com. The perks with this calligraphy option? You'll be able to save some money, avoid just plain printing it, and it'll be your own writing!
