First Task = Getting Organized

With two months into our engagement, I decided it was about time to get organized. Before I had my epiphany to get organized, I spent most of my time figuring out the overall theme of our wedding, which I can still say I'm not sure what that is going to be yet (more on that later,) what resources are available, inspiration, etc. One of the first things I did was buy wedding books, a planner, and magazines.  After buying a wedding planner, and the Knot's Book of Lists..I still didn't feel organized. I guess it was because I didn't make those lists and they didn't seem personalized to my wedding. So with the help of Numbers, which is Mac's equivalent to excel, I got to work on our wedding planning timeline. I selected which tasks and to-dos are most appropriate for our wedding and included them in the timeline which I set-up month-by-month. I'm probably sounding super nerdy right now, but I am very excited about my new timeline. In a way I feel even more motivated to start planning.  Below is a little snippet of our timeline!

I found that the planning timelines found in my wedding books were too general, similar to a one-size-fits-all. BUT, I did find these lists to be somewhat helpful. For some of our tasks I knew we had to do, but had no idea when you should do them. For example, sending out Save-the-Dates. I knew it was early, but didn't know when it was too late to send them (roughly no later than 8 months out.) So, my suggestion is to use these lists to generate and create your own. Now that I'm on track to be organized, it's time to continue, I mean, figure out our overall wedding theme. Wish me luck!
